The problem is that they aren’t seen as being trendy. While they may not be at the top of most people’s shopping list their practical nature can’t be disputed.
What is a valance sheet exactly? They are the cloth that goes around the bottom of the bed. There are other names for them including dust ruffles and bed skirts. Does this start to ring a bell? When you have stayed in hotels they probably had them but you might not have noticed them.
The sheet will fill the whole of the skirt of the bed. This means that there won’t be a gap from the mattress to the floor. The amount of dust that gets under your bed is massively reduced. This is the reason for their other name… dust ruffles. If there is less dust under the bed then there shouldn’t be a need to clean under there so often. This may be a big relief to some of you. Many of the hotels have them for this reason.
Being cleaner isn’t the only benefit, there is the appearance factor too. We all struggle for space sometimes and a lot of our possessions end up under our beds. I know we just want a bit more space but it can seem like a mess. The valance sheet can hide this mess from the world. You won’t have to keep seeing that big ugly box of stuff causing a mess under the bed for any longer.
If you do use valance sheets on your bed then a simple change to it will change the whole feel of the bedroom. Your bed is a main focal point of the room so changing something that big will make a big difference. This means that it very easy to change the feel of the room with only a small change.
With all these advantages is it a surprise that valance sheets are making a comeback? I think not and may be it is time for you to get some too.
